The ‘Celebration Of Photography’ exhibition is an enchanting photographic experience, presenting a journey through Leica’s legacy as witness to the world's most compelling stories. Headlining the exhibition is Nick Ut, a celebrated photojournalist who has covered an incredibly diverse range of moments throughout humanity’s recent history, from his infamous coverage of the Vietnam war to high profile celebrity stories.
Amongst numerous notable photographers exhibited with Nick Ut is Mathias Heng, a Singaporean conflict photographer covering warzones and humanitarian crises, showcasing his recent reportage from the war in Ukraine. Exhibiting captured stories are photographers Rosalynn Tay, Adele Chan, Alwyn Chong, and KC Eng.
Journey through a visual history of the Vietnam war, including the iconic "The Terror of War" photograph depicting children fleeing from a napalm bombing on their village of Trang Bang, where the naked 9-year-old girl became the face of all that was wrong, and has made a tremendous impact on the war.
Solitude and loneliness are entirely different things. In Nature, one is never alone. One is free. Every scene in nature is an unborn painting. Timeless. Impressionist. Spontaneous. And I shall continue to pursue them, wherever my travels take me. Nature shall give birth to my soul, and I invite the viewer to accompany me.
It is more than just about the opera, the performers and the props involved. It is the incorporeal embodiment of tradition that we must treasure today, fading as it will with time’s arrow. It is also an emblem of the altruistic spirit of dedicating oneself wholeheartedly to something without expecting much materially in return. This photo exhibition holds and passes on that shimmering trove to the audience, in hope that the persistence of its memory may yet still gleam farther down in the sands of time, before its final vanishment under a shroud of oblivion.
Zouk at Jiak Kim was our youth, a place that moulded a whole generation. This exhibition explores the legacy and the people who enabled us to have an outlet for expression and to be ourselves.
This is a series of portraits featuring not just familiar faces, but stories of individuals who have each led extraordinary lives, and who have, along the way, experienced changes in their work, positions and even attitudes. I photographed these on the new M11 system and chose to portray them in black and white so there are no colours to distract, and so that the focus remains on their emotions and expressions.
